We don’t know much about Hope’s life before we met her. What we do know is that she she was found wandering around the streets of Seattle, discarded like the trash she was found in.
She was filthy, both eyes covered by debris, her teeth were rotting, and she was pretty much non responsive. She had clearly given up hope for her family to come back for her. The amount of neglect that this poor girl suffered is a crime.
We took Hope in and brought her to the vet. She could not see because there were a total of four tumors around her eyes. She also had eye infections in both eyes. She had hair that “cemented” over both eyes. She had zero eyesight. She also had a large growth by her ear that needed to be removed.
Most of her teeth had rotted and she also had a tumor in her mouth, so every time she tried to eat it hurt her. She also had a skin infection that required us to shave her down to the skin.
Her (rescue discounted) costs:
- Surgery to remove all tumors – $ 400
- Antibiotics to clear up infections – $ 25
- Bath/Shave and treat skin infection – $ 70
- Microchip and immunizations – $ 40
- De-Worming (x2) – $ 9
- Sweater to protect her skin from the weather – $12
- New leash, collar and bed $ 35
Never having to worry about where she is going to sleep or eat…. $PRICELESS
Hope will now start the process of healing and feeling love at her foster home – she will no longer be discarded by the side of the road to live in the elements (blindly) – to live in pain or be abused by neglect or slowly starve to death.
This is what our rescue is all about ~ Saving the discarded ones that need us the most!
