After seeing this darling girl on Ginger’s web site and realizing it was a matter of days before she was going to be put to sleep at the Ellensburg shelter, I had a tugging of the heart that said “this puppy needs saving!”
Nikki had been neglected and dumped with a bad case of mange, needed eye surgery for lower lids that turned in, and was in heat. Obviously not the dog that most would choose when making the decision for who to bring home. After Ginger notified us on her site that time was short I talked with Ginger and offered to go rescue her from the shelter and foster. The moment Mark and I met Nikki we were in love!
She is soooooooo terrific, and when moved into an environment that is peaceful, with good care and nutrition her mange began to clear immediately. She is a dream in the house too! We are now blessed to have her with us, she gets us out a couple times each day for wonderful walks that are probably better for our health than even hers! She has been in our home for 5 weeks now and we certainly don’t want to imagine life without her. She goes into the vet tomorrow for spaying her getting her eye lid surgery done! Thanks Ginger for putting in the hours to bring Nikki and the like into our lives.
