Hi Ginger,

Just wanted to send you an update on Monty. I met him and Tami on Friday and we clicked right from the start. Tami has clearly been an awesome foster mother to him. We spent some time in her home and back yard, then we headed out to the dog park and spent a good hour there.

He's such a curious. spry and loving little boy, I feel like the luckiest mom in the world!

The drive back was really good, he was very calm yet curious, and going over the border was smooth. I have to say the hardest part was saying goodbye to Tami as I could tell she really loves him, but we've promised to keep in touch.

We got home around 8pm, and I took him on a short stroll around my neighbourhood to mark his territory. He spend the night on my bed in a canvas kennel where he was quite happy, and after our 630am walk he spent another couple of hours snuggling with me in bed. We then went to the dog park, then to see Kathy our vet. She has given him a clear bill of health, no sign of disorders connected to either breed. She actually said that he is the kind of dog that she would want for herself! She was very impressed with his level of confidence for a dog of his size, which didn't surprise me after seeing how he interacts with big dogs and small at the dog park!

Since then he has met his three "uncles", Homer the lab and Freddie the beagle who belong to my mom, and Rocky the coton who belongs to my dad, and they all get along really well! Especially Freddie, although he is 13 years old, they were playing around like little puppies! And he has already made at least 7 new friends his size at 2 different dog parks where Monty is either being chased, or is chasing another. We're back at my condo now after his latest jaunt and he is exhausted, curled up in his bed and fast asleep.

Our vet says he says that he's been a very well-cared-after doggie before he was rescued. Based on his teeth she's pretty sure he's closer to a year to a year-and-a-half in age. He shows no sign on trauma at all, he's just so sweet and loving. I can't imagine anyone giving up such an amazing and smart little boy.

Anyways, I attached a few photos of his first trip to the Vancouver seawall and dog park. I will keep you posted on his progress.

Tomorrow will be his first trip to the office and I know it will go well.

Thanks again for saving this amazing beautiful Monty.

He is already the light of my life!

Patsy

PS - I can't say enough what an amazing foster-mom Tami was - apart from sending me home with his collar and tags, she sent him off with a coat she sad sewn, a hand-crafted collar, a hand-made tie for the office, a bag of his dog food, his dog bed and blanket and his two favourite toys. She is a truly amazing and generous woman!
